1974

The Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday 13th January in the Hall, with a large attendance. This meeting was very significant in that for the first time, the club as a priority adopted the purchase and development of ground for a football field. The treasurer Paddy Warnock was able to state that there was quite a sum of money available for any development.

The officers elected for 1974 were:

President: Rev Fr Mullan CC
Chairman: P.J. McDermott
Vice-Chairman: Sean Clarke
Secretary: Brendan Morris
Treasurer: Paddy Warnock
Committee: Joe McCullagh, P.J. Keenan, Peter Tracey. Team Manager P.J. McDermott, Assistants Joe McCullagh and Frankie Bradley.

A panel of junior players listed for a challenge game on the 17th February was as follows: Eugene Tracey, Paddy Hagan, Mick Hollywood, Frankie Clarke, Brendan Morris, Sean Meenagh, Raymond Fox, Sean Logue, Pete McCullagh, Paddy McDermott, Tony Keenan, Frank Keenan, Dermot McCullagh, Peter Teague, Barney Glass, Peter Conway, Raymond Bradley, Sean Keenan, Martin Ward, John Tracey, Johnny McKenna, Michael McAleer, Laurence McBride, C. Kildun, J. McConnell, T. McBride, Eugene McCullagh, Gerald Kirk, Sean Clarke and Sean Teague.

In the league the team got off to a good start winning 3 of the first 4 matches. A slump in mid-season saw the club drop to 4th position from bottom by the beginning of September. This was a perilous position as 4 teams were being relegated to junior football. Unfortunately a big effort in the closing stages of the season was not enough to avoid the drop and what a drop with the League being made All-County that meant a place in Division 5, along with Fintona, Newtownstewart, Killyclogher, Mountfield, Gortin, Creggan, Killeeshil, Derrytresk, Drumquin, Dregish and Cookstown.
