1947
In
1947 the league were divided into two senior sections, with
Greencastle in Section B. In the Premier Cup, Greencastle
defeated Leckpatrick by 2-07 to 0-02. Interest in the Premier
Cup ended when Dromore easily defeated a very much understrenght
team in the round. The year seems to have been lacking in
success on the playing field.
1948
The
Annual General Meeting of the club was held in the Parochial
Hall with P.J. McCullagh (Chairman) presiding. In his address,
Mr McCullagh congratulated Malachy C. McAleer PET for promoting
football in the Parish schools. He also thanked Hugh O'Neill
for giving the club the use of his field free. Thanks were
also expressed to Mrs F. Donnelly for the free use of addressing
room for the players.
Officers
elected for 1948 were:
Chairman:
H.J. Daly
Vice-Chairman: P.J. McCullagh
Secretary: Brendan Hoy
Treasurer: J. Bradley
Committee: P. Tracey, J. Donnelly, T. McDermott, C. Meenan,
M. McAleer, C.J. Donnelly
M.C.
McAleer was appointed to organise football in schools.
The
playing season started with a St Enda Cup match with Fintona.
The players from which the team would be selected were as
follows: H.J. Daly, J. Donnelly, A. McAleer, G. Rodgers, E.
Fox, P. McGlynn, B. Hoy, P.J. Tracey, M. McAleer (Capt), F.H.
McBride, P. Keenan, F. Bradley, P.J. McCullagh, T. McDermott,
J. McCrory, F. Donnelly, M. Clarke, J. Donnelly.
The
league was on the same basis as the previous year being divided
into two Senior Sections A and B. An interesting feature of
the occasion of Greencastle against Carrickmore league game
there was also a reserve game against Carrickmore, a game
incidentally won by Carrickmore by just 2 pts.
Unfortunately
there are very few reports of games at this time. Just one
league table was published in November. This was as follows:

Evidently
from this table, Greencastle would have been on par with the
finest teams in the County. The Club made a contribution to
the Tyrone Minor Training fund of £2, which would have
been a substantial sum in those days.
